Supported Staff Service
Welcome to our Supported Staff Service — a collaborative initiative where we recognise that the psychological wellness of your staff is fundamental to the overall success of your business.
The healthcare industry, in particular the Disability and Aged care industries, typically have high rates of staff burnout and low staff retention rates due to the nature and structure of the industry. With many staff reporting insufficient or absent psychological support, high work loads and a lack of recognition or feedback by their manager. Reduced staff availability leads to further staff burnout and staff turnover, further impacting the availability and quality of service delivery.
The Supported Staff Service is designed to identify and address the workplace psychological wellness needs of direct support staff. The Supported Staff Service is geared towards providing managers and direct support staff with the support, knowledge and tools to put regular processes in place in order to feel confident to not only identify psychological wellness needs, but to also feel confident in how to address them.
We know mental health is not static, but a continuum that requires constant care and attention. It's normal to have good days and bad days, and it's important to us that your direct support staff know you are here for them, no matter where they fall on this continuum.
The Supported Staff Service is not just a service we offer; it is a testament to our belief that great care begins with supported staff. Join us as we work towards a better, healthier workplace, where everyone is equipped to thrive.
If you would like to know more about the service, or would like to discuss whether it is the right fit for the needs of your service, then contact Melissa Murdoch on 0419 235 825 or go through our contact page and send us an email.
Counselling
With a background of 25 years as a Social Worker and Manager in the areas of Mental Health, Aged Care, Youth Services and Disability Services, Melissa provides individual and couples counselling in person, by phone and online clients aged 13 years and above.
Counselling sessions are centered around education and outcomes. We believe it is important to provide clients with an understanding of what is happening to them, why it is happening and what can be done to make changes and live a more fulfilled life.
We believe counselling should be meaningful and useful and as such encourage clients to be active in the process, so they can leave a session having learnt something new and feeling able to start making changes towards being more empowered.
Human beings tend to be quite hard on themselves, often judging their actions and thoughts. We believe judging ourselves does not help us learn or grow, but rather serves to keep us stuck. Therefore, within the counselling process we teach and encourage self reflection through curiosity, in order to gain insight and strategies to manage life’s ups and downs with more confidence and understanding.
